Hello everyone! It’s Cindy reporting in on my annual pilgrimage to the Ohio State Fair .
It’s always a family event to get to the fair early, eat something loaded with carbs, fat and sugar, then venture into the craft building to see the quilts. The fairgrounds built a new craft building, complete with air conditioning! Honestly, what could possibly be better than quilts and air conditioning on a steamy 90 degree summer day?
Since Ohio is the “Buckeye State”, I have to start by showing you this gorgeous Buckeye quilt. As you can see, the quilting was incredible. Some of the words to The Ohio State University’s alma mater were quilted into the outer border.
This Cathedral Window quilt was small and so pretty with the buttons added.
The bright leaves and bright flowers really showcase this giraffe.
This patriotic quilt was a real show stopper!
Here is a close up of one of the outer stars…clearly a paper piecing dream come true!
This Baltimore Album quilt was absolutely amazing. I took a few pictures to share with you.
Here’s a close up of one of the baskets.
I just love looking at all these quilts. There are so many quilting and piecing techniques to study and enjoy. I have lots more to show you, including the “Best of Show”…stay tuned!
So many pretty quilts, and talented quilters!
Yes, it’s always the highlight of the fair!
Could you make me the Ohio State Buckeye quilt?
Hi Cindy! I haven’t been to our State Fair in ages, but you are inspiring me to go. It opens on Thursday so there is a good chance – your timing is impeccable. What gorgeous quilts you shared! ~smile~ Roseanne
So glad you are inspired to go to the fair! There is always so much to do and see…let us know how much fun you had!
What would a fair be without quilts? Thank you for sharing the inspiration.
Yes! Quilts and food…it’s all good!
Hi Cindy, thanks for sharing these pictures from the Ohio fair.
I remember a giraffe quilt piece you made and think you should enter it next year 🙂
Thanks, Abbie! I appreciate the encouragement! When I see all these quilts, I start feeling insecure…but I just might make an entry next year…I have about 8 months to get my nerve up.
Thanks for sharing. Did not make it to OS fair this year.
