New beginnings

It’s Sandy here again! Cindy has been in Florida helping our older sister move into a swanky new home, so I’ve been feeling left out of all the fun. Not that moving is fun when you’re in the middle of it, mind you, but when you’re done and you’ve purged yourself of all the empty sour cream containers you’ve been hoarding to use for leftovers and there are no more old slivers of soap gumming up your new, clean shower, and you’ve got some new furniture to boot, well, there isn’t any better feeling, is there?

To console myself for not being able to participate in the move, I spent the weekend inserting and then extracting lots machine quilting threads on a couple of different projects. I was pretty discouraged, but then I decided to go small and started on a leftover block from my Boudoir quilt. This little thing has been hanging around in my “to quilt” pile for a while now. I selected a red and white woven fabric for backing, pinned the two pieces together to make a sandwich and bravely got to work.

Woo Hoo!!!

When I was finished, I found an already-made piece of black binding in my “leftover binding pile”.

Someone has got to organize these leftovers!

Score! Found what I was looking for.  It was the perfect length too!

It was great to get my paws on some hand-work while watching a Netflix series about  Bobby Kennedy.

And lo and behold, maybe smaller is better when one is practicing to become a machine quilting expert?

Here’s my sewing buddy, Boots, casually looking for some love!

Some Saturday, this carpet is going to disappear from my life!

I wish you a week of clean quilting starts!

I enjoyed your multiple discoveries on using bits to finish your mini-quilting project. The ‘practice’ quilting looks fantastic!
BTW: even though Boots is upside down, he looks quite the expert quilting companion.

Laura — When Boots was a kitten, my mother held him like he was a baby — that kitty likes to be upside down! hee hee!

Sometimes when you are feeling down, there is nothing like a new tube of sexy red lipstick to cheer you up. Your mini turned out great! Congrats on you finish.
