Sadie’s Charm – A Free Quilt Pattern

Happy Monday!  It’s Cindy reporting in from Ohio where it’s snowy and cold!

We are very lucky to have a Miniature Schnauzer named Sadie Sue.  She likes to snuggle under blankets and quilts in this cold weather.  I was working on this quilt design and she decided to come over and give me an hand…I mean paw!

Here she is again, giving me a look that says, “Hand over the quilt NOW and no one gets hurt!”

So…I decided to name this free quilt pattern after my sweet little Schnauzer…it’s officially called “Sadie’s Charm Quilt”.

My dear friend, MJ, gave me several partial charm square packages from different fabric lines.  At first, I wasn’t sure what to do with all these different colors and prints but then decided to just throw caution to the wind and sew them all together.

I used a burgundy inner border to pick up on all the burgundies in the charm squares.  I decided to use a small floral print for the outer border to tie in the dark colors in the charm squares and the various shades of orange, blue, burgundy and green.  I will be binding this in burgundy after it’s quilted.

Patriotic Vote…A FREE Pattern!

Hi!  It’s Cindy hosting our blog today from the great State of Ohio!

Sandy and I are excited to offer another FREE pattern from our “Patriotic Quilt Series”.

It’s a cute mini wall hanging reminding everyone to be sure and vote during this (and future) election seasons.

This mini is pieced using 1.5 inch squares and half square triangles.  We added a few rectangles to outline the letters and then a few additional white strips to surround our red, white, blue and gold masterpiece.  We used a black border to create a “picture frame” around the quilt.

If you have a small space in your hallway like I do, you’ll appreciate the size;  it’s just 24 inches tall and 9 1/4 inches wide.  What a great way to remind you and all your friends and family to vote on Election Day!

You can download the pattern by clicking on the link below:

We’ll also be posting the pattern to FaveQuilts, one of our all time favorites quilting websites!

Enjoy your Labor Day weekend…maybe you’ll steal some time to sew a “Patriotic Vote” for yourself!

Hello!  It’s Cindy reporting in from Ohio.

Sandy asked me to share her Mummy Mug Rug Pattern with you because she is still playing catch up from her vacation with me in Ohio AND it’s back to school time…yikes!

Isn’t this the cutest pattern?  It’s the third pattern in Sandy’s “Spooky Scary Mug Rug Series”.  You can also find the patterns for two other Spooky Scary mug rugs by clicking on our “Free Patterns” tab.  Scroll down and you will find the “Vlad Vampire” and “Frank N. Stein” patterns to keep your Mummy company.

My neighbors, a.k.a. the Teen Age Girls (or TAGs) as I affectionately call them, are begging for a new sewing project…this is it!  It uses random scraps, and it’s fast, easy and fun!  The TAGS will be learning two new quilting skills:  zig zag stitching and attaching a binding…all in one sweet little project!

You can access Sandy’s FREE pattern by clicking on the link below:

Three Point Stash Score!

Last Friday night, my guild had a dinner meeting and did I ever score big!  In basketball terms, it was a three pointer from half court!

A fellow guild member was cutting down on her stash inventory.  What choice did I have but to help her out??!!   Pinks and purples…count me in!

I needed a few more greens, these will do just fine!

Below are some Christmas shirtings that will make a nice table runner or topper.

Bold and bright florals…I can work with these!

These teals will go well with some neutrals I have on hand.
