It’s Cindy reporting in from Ohio. The barn quilt/barn raising is complete….yippee!! Sandy and I are very happy with the results. Here’s the final view:

My quilter, Ms. SJ, used a barbed wire quilt pattern to complement the barn theme. Here’s a close up.

We found this very cute 108″ wide fabric for the backing. These kitty cats can make anyone smile.

We were thinking about a red bandana print for the binding but decided on something more geometric. Because the quilt measures 85 x 96 inches, we needed 10 strips of binding! Yikes! Lots of ironing required.

Now that our barn raising is complete, the masterpiece has been shipped to our sister in the sunny south. Another Christmas gift checked off our list!
Beautiful!
That turned out nicely! Love that backing fabric!
Thanks, I think Wilbur likes it too!
Kitty cat backing is so appropriate for a barn (raising) quilt…they are the ultimate barn accessory!
Great gift!
Yes, you’re right! They add some bling to a barn!
What a fun quilt! I have been tempted to buy that cat fabric, but I do not have a plan for how to use it.
Everything about this quilt is wonderful . . . the design, the colors, the cute, cute kitties on the backing, and the barbed wire stitching!!
Thanks, Diana! It was fun to make.
Hi Ladies! Love the Barn Raising finish. That layout and setting is just a knock out! I never would have thought of the simple black and white combination but WOW. It really works here and it sets off all those spectacular barns so nicely. Just like a frame and mat would do for a photo. Such a great job! Your sissy will adore it and she’ll feel all the love sewn into it. ~smile~ Roseanne
Thanks, Roseanne. It’s a navy and white combo but I think the colors in the photo darkened when I added them to the blog. I do agree with you, black and white would have been a good choice too because of all the colors in the blocks.
The barn raising is amazing (did you see what I did there – I rhymed, ha!). The quilting is great and it compliments the quilt and I love the backing fabric!
