Apples and Cider and Quilts, Oh my!

So, the local, rustic, real-deal, cider and donuts mill is finally, finally open <insert Hallelujah chorus>! My son and I rushed up there on Saturday morning on opening day, but apparently we were not the only ones thirsting for that tangy, sweet beverage! The demand was so strong that we waited in line for 30 minutes, and then had to leave before our turn — a wrenching experience to be sure — you will have to believe me when I say that  Lain’s Cider Mill donuts are life-affirming.

Cindy was in town unexpectedly and she snagged some excellent fresh apples. She cans the most delicious apple sauce and apple butter each year.

I don’t know what is happening atmospherically, but there have been some stunning sunrises and sunsets on the farm. This is Tuesday’s sunrise.

I’m almost through with my Thanksgiving themed-table topper. I had one more row to quilt and I ran out of thread #wouldntyouknowit. It’s off to Joann on Saturday morning for some matching Gutterman chocolate colored thread.

I’ve also been having fun experimenting with my Creative Grids Dresden Ruler. I can’t wait to show you the results on Monday!IMG_4350[1]

How disappointing to miss out on the cider and donuts! Sound delicious! We usually take a fall drive each year; not sure we’ll get it in this year. I love to make apple crisp, so I’ll have to sneak that in one way or the other!

Hi Sandy! Those donuts sound delicious! I could pass on the cider but would wait in line for the donuts. I’m sorry you had to miss out. What a bummer! We have an apple place in our town – I wonder if they have donuts. Hmm, I’ll have to check that out! Looking forward to seeing your next project that Cindy promised us! ~smile~ Roseanne

Oooh Fall on the farm and apple cider, etc. – awesome! I have a Creative Grids ruler that is gathering dust (impulse buy after watching a demo at a quilt shop) – looking forward to seeing what you do with yours! Hope you get some cider and donuts soon! 🙂

Well, mom and I got some donuts and let’s just say they were heavenly! Applesauce in progress, I’ll bring a few jars up for you…no sugar…just apple goodness!
