Stuck on the Border II

In a previous post, I was indecisive about what border and binding to add to my kaleidoscope pillow.  Thanks for all your feedback!

Rummaging through my sewing supplies, I found a package of Wright’s Bias Tape Maxi Piping and my plan came together in a flash!  I was no longer stuck on the border!

I added a black border to my pillow and used the red bias tape maxi piping for an accent.  This piping went on quickly because I used the zipper foot attachment for my trusted Bernina.  Yikes!  Lots of batting fuzz on my fabric!

My walking foot was put to good use as I made my way around the outside edge, stitching in the ditch of my seam.

Here’s a look at the back of my pillow.  It has an envelope back so I can easily slip the pillow in and out of the pillow cover.

I am loving my new pillow and well, we all know “there’s no place like home”!!!!!

Stressed By The Mess!

My sewing room is a mess and I must admit I am stressed!

I have piles of unrelated fabrics that have to be sorted!  Right now the burlap is crammed on a shelf with the minky, the fleece and the flannel.  Dearest hubby doesn’t call me “the stuffer” for no reason!

I have bins full of unrelated colors and who knows what else lies beneath this mound?!

Threads are thrown together in a haphazard fashion!

I have too many pinks and the drawer is overflowing!  I tried to cram them back in the drawer but they won’t fit!

My bobbin bin is a mix of miscellaneous “things”!

I have some time this weekend to sew, but I think I’ll be cleaning and organizing instead.

If I can get organized, I just know I can be more productive and definitely less stressed!

What is your favorite tip for keeping your quilting space organized?

Can You Say Cheese?

Cheddar and blue are not just names for cheese!  These cheddars and blues compose one of my all time favorite reproduction fabric quilts–well it’s really a wall hanging.

The contrast of colors and fabrics is yummy!  Sorry, I just can’t get past the food analogy!

Here’s a bird’s eye view.  My quilter, Ms. JM, did a lovely quilting job, don’t you think?  Oops, how did my feet get in the picture?!

I used Thangles to make my tiny half square triangles –they made piecing so much easier!

Right now this quilt is hanging in my sewing room.  It makes things warm and cozy for winter sewing.

What’s hanging on the wall in your sewing space?
