FREEE Paper Pieced Christmas Blocks

Hello!  It’s Cindy bragging about Sandy designing the cutest paper pieced Christmas block patterns.  2 trees black backgroundSince Sandy designed 4 very adorable blocks, we’re hosting a PAPER PIECING SEW ALONG.  You can make a Christmas banner, a table runner or a mini wall hanging.  We think either one is guaranteed to make your 2020 holidays brighter!

The first block is a rustic evergreen tree.  For printing these patterns, we suggest using thin copy paper or a special paper made for paper piecing from your favorite quilting store.

Since I am a novice at paper piecing, I used colored pencils to color code the rustic tree block pattern.  This helped me to keep track of the fabrics I was using for each section.  Who said you have to color within the lines?  Not me! Colored pencils tip Here’s a close up of my first tree.  I had fun picking out these fabrics!     Green treeDo you need a paper piecing tutorial?  Here’s a link to a great tutorial by Crafty Gemini.  Sandy and I both learned our paper piecing skills from Vanessa.

Sadie’s Charm – A Free Quilt Pattern

Happy Monday!  It’s Cindy reporting in from Ohio where it’s snowy and cold!

We are very lucky to have a Miniature Schnauzer named Sadie Sue.  She likes to snuggle under blankets and quilts in this cold weather.  I was working on this quilt design and she decided to come over and give me an hand…I mean paw!

Here she is again, giving me a look that says, “Hand over the quilt NOW and no one gets hurt!”

So…I decided to name this free quilt pattern after my sweet little Schnauzer…it’s officially called “Sadie’s Charm Quilt”.

My dear friend, MJ, gave me several partial charm square packages from different fabric lines.  At first, I wasn’t sure what to do with all these different colors and prints but then decided to just throw caution to the wind and sew them all together.

I used a burgundy inner border to pick up on all the burgundies in the charm squares.  I decided to use a small floral print for the outer border to tie in the dark colors in the charm squares and the various shades of orange, blue, burgundy and green.  I will be binding this in burgundy after it’s quilted.

Three Point Stash Score!

Last Friday night, my guild had a dinner meeting and did I ever score big!  In basketball terms, it was a three pointer from half court!

A fellow guild member was cutting down on her stash inventory.  What choice did I have but to help her out??!!   Pinks and purples…count me in!

I needed a few more greens, these will do just fine!

Below are some Christmas shirtings that will make a nice table runner or topper.

Bold and bright florals…I can work with these!

These teals will go well with some neutrals I have on hand.
