Ice Whine

Ice Wine is one type of wine that is produced in Western New York State.  It’s called ice wine because the grapes are harvested in freezing temperatures.  “What does this have to do with quilting?”, one might ask?  Please continue….

On Thursday, Sandy and I traveled to Chicago to attend the 2018 International Quilt Festival.  Our plans were to attend the festival on Thursday and Friday and head for home early Saturday morning.

We had an amazing time!  We saw so many quilts, talked to all kinds of vendors, watched quilting demonstrations, took two classes and shopped ’till we dropped.

My flight left Chicago on time Saturday morning time and I arrived back home with no delays.  SANDY…NOT SO MUCH!  An ice storm in the Buffalo area has delayed her return home.  She could not fly into Buffalo on Saturday or Sunday due to the icy conditions in the air and on the ground.  YES, SANDY IS STILL IN CHICAGO!

To make matters worse, she is competing with hundreds of other travelers to re-schedule a flight from Chicago to Buffalo and the western New York area.  Her new plan is to fly home today (via Washington, D.C.) and her 80 minute, direct flight has turned into an 8 hour, indirect flight!

CAN WE ALL SAY “ICE WHINE”?  Sandy, I think you have had many “ICE WHINE” moments this past weekend!!!!!

We will be sharing more of our Chicago adventures with you in future posts but today,  I’d like to share another adventure with you.

We are participating in the 2018 New Quilt Bloggers Blog Hop.

Because there are approximately 30 new bloggers participating, Beth, Jen, Tish and Sandra divided us into four separate groups.  Gray Barn Designs is in the “Sunshine Quilters” group because we know spring is just around the corner…honest!  We chose a logo specific to our group and let’s just say we think it provides optimism after a long, unpredictable winter!

This week, 8 of our fellow new quilt bloggers are featured in the blog hop:
