Stepping Stones – A Free Quilt Pattern

Good morning!  We are anxious to share this new quilt pattern with you, it’s hot off the press! Full Quilt Outdoors LOGOSandy and I decided to call this quilt “Stepping Stones” because it reminds us of when we were back on the farm, heading out to get the cows for milking.  We had to cross the creek pictured below.  When you’re a little girl, crossing something like this seems daunting!  We would always step on the stones to try and keep our feet dry.   Scenic creekThis is a fast and easy quilt created with a colorful 40 piece jelly roll and 11 solid white jelly roll strips to make the colors pop.  Here’s a close up view.  Full Block LOGOYou can download this FREE pattern by clicking on this link: Stepping Stones 06 12 20

We’ll also be posting this pattern to one of our favorite quilting websites, FaveQuilts.  This is a great website for lots of free quilting patterns, tutorials and inspiration.

A New Free Pattern!

As I mentioned last week, I’ve been working on a new quilt design with a “Dot Crazy” jelly roll.  These fabrics were designed by Weeks Ringle and Bill Kerr of Modern Quilt Studio.

Sandy and I collaborated over the miles on this design.  Thank goodness for cell phone technology…what would we do without it?  I would send her photos of different layouts and she would give me feedback.

Below is the result of our collective design strategy and we are calling this quilt “Corner Kick”.

We love these fabrics because they are bright, bold and modern.  The blue and white diamonds help anchor the blocks and bring all these fabrics together in a very easy, beginner friendly quilt.

We think these bright fabrics make the perfect quilt for sunny day picnics or a casual throw on a cool summer evening.

Grab a colorful jelly roll and get started on your own “Corner Kick”.

In a Jelly Roll Jam

Cindy reporting in from Ohio!

Last week, Sandy said she was in a pickle.  This week, I am in a jam…that would be a jelly roll jam!

When Sandy was here in August, she left behind 4 jelly rolls (psssst, me thinks she “accidentally” forgot them!)  These Bali Pops from Hoffman Fabrics are very nice.  There is a wide selection of brights and darks with lots of texture.

The Sun Print fabrics by Alison Glass are pretty and cheerful.

I bought this Dot Crazy jelly roll from Weeks Ringle when Sandy and I were in Chicago for the 2018 Quilt Festival.  Weeks and Bill Kerr are the co-founders of Modern Quilt Studio and we very much enjoyed talking with Weeks about their modern fabric design and quilting journey.

So to summarize my jam, 4 Sandy jelly rolls + 1 Cindy jelly roll = 5 Cindy jelly rolls!

What should I do with 5 jelly rolls?  I think I have some choices here:

A.  Break apart the jelly roll packages, mix all 5 fabric lines together and sort the strips by color.

B.  Keep each jelly roll package intact to “stay true” to the fabric line.

C.  Entertain an unknown option I haven’t even considered.

What would you do?  Let me know!
