Last Sunday morning I got the chance to take a long walk on the farm. The day was overcast and a cold mist was falling, but I felt an urgent need to stretch my legs and take a tree bath while performing some mental cleansing.
The fall colors are starting to fade and the stark beauty of winter is beginning to reveal itself.
I meandered along a ridge line that I haven’t followed in years. A different perspective is always a good thing.
A dear friend of mine has a life goal to live near a babbling brook. Along with my tree bath, this sound helps center the mind, don’t you think? Cindy and I used to walk across this creek twice a day every day in the summer when we brought the cows out of the pasture and into the barn for milking.
This tree is a great reminder that wounds can heal and the scars left behind can make us more interesting.
Can you tell that I’m in a contemplative mood? After my walk, I decided to cleanse my orange and brown hued seasonal sewing pallet with something a bit lighter. I made a mini quilt from my thrift shop cross-stitch finds. During a recent antique store stroll I found an old, lonely, single dinner napkin that matched both the texture of the cross stitch and the right non-orange blue color I needed. I think I love it. I apparently needed a little bluebird/oriole bird-bath action too!
I finished my walk with a little selfie practice!
