Drops of Rainbow Quilt and Free Pattern

I love the start of gardening season! I spent some time last weekend at my community garden plot and I finally got some peas and radishes planted. The weather was beautiful and I felt the need for some dirt bathing.

What is dirt bathing you ask? Well, it’s when you take your shoes off, dig your toes in the dirt, plunge your hands into soil at least 4 inches deep, and/or sit on the ground to reconnect with the planet. It’s soul cleansing whenever you’re under stress or when the winter has been extra long or whenever you just need a pick-me-up. If the sun is shining when you’re dirt bathing, it brings double the benefits.

I took along my Drops of Rainbow quilt to create a festive dirt-bathing oasis. I had the garden all to myself. It was heavenly.

Have you tried watermelon radishes? I’m obsessed.

Now it’s time for the big reveal for Drops of Rainbow…how about a few pitter pats of rain for sound effects instead of a drum roll…….

I fully intend to use this quilt all the time, both inside and out. The field of white doesn’t scare me a bit.

My habit of making pre-cuts from fabric scraps served me well on this project. Each patch is a 2.5″ square from my stash. I have to say that the amount of purple in the pattern demolished my purple scraps, but hey, that’s a good thing, right? Now I get to buy more purple! Hurray!

Drops of Rainbow is a large quilt. It finishes at 67″x106″. It would make a great leaders/enders project. The free pattern is here Drops of Rainbow.
