Mom came across this quilt at an estate sale and she knew she had something special!
All the patches in the quilt top are made from corduroy fabric in shades of light blue, dark green, rust, cream and tan. The top and woven cotton backing are hand tied together.
Needless to say, with all the corduroy fabric, this quilt is quite heavy. I suspect it was made before rotary cutting was popular. Given the size of this quilt, cutting all the fabric squares must have taken a lot of time and effort. Let’s hope the quilter had a really sharp pair of scissors!
Mom freshened up this quilt by washing it and hanging it on the clothesline to dry. This is a favorite picture of mine. It speaks of summer sunshine, a warm breeze and the labor of love that goes into a quilt.
