I need your opinion!
Everyone who comments will have their name entered into a drawing for one package of American Made Brand 5″ cotton solids in patriotic colors (shown below).
The winner of the drawing will be announced on Monday, June 5, so be sure to check back in with us!
Now, back to why I need your opinion!
I made the quilt below from a kit I purchased from Quilts & Sew Forth in Mentor, Ohio. It’s a fast and easy pattern that uses two yards of three different fabrics. BUT there was not enough fabric in the kit to make the binding. On to plan B which requires a trip to the quilting store…I love this plan!
What color fabric should I use to make the binding???
Here is a close up of the fabric colors and patterns.
Let us know what you think!
I would use a solid color of black or bright pink so the main part of the quilt is still the center of attention
Good point about the solid color. Adding another pattern with the binding could make it feel chaotic.
Very nice quilt. I think I’d bind with a black binding or the flowered fabric you’ve used in the quilt.
Thanks, I think black would frame it nicely.
I think I would choose dark, either similar to the dark floral, or deep pink. Take the quilt with you to audition. The fabrics are lovely.
Thanks for the tip! I’ll take it with me to audition.
I think you could go with a green that matches the leaves in the roses.
Interesting….I am going to take this to the store with me and explore greens.
I am with the “dark pink or black” team. I wonder if you could find a stripe with both? Although, depending on the backing fabric, that yellow/gold color might be good, too…
Ohhhh, that is an interesting thought. I wasn’t thinking stripe but will go on a search!
I would do a very narrow border in black to stop the design and then use a large print floral border. Nice spring like quilt. Take the quilt with you to the store.
Bev
Thanks, Bev! There is a lot going on here so I do agree I need a solid color to stop the design.
My first choice would be solid black. It would frame the quilt. Matching the pink may be a little hard unless you have access to the fabric line. I never know how many shades of a color there is available until I try to match something. Solid white would also work. Lovely quilt.
Thanks, Peggy! I have been leaning toward a black binding as well.
I would have given you my opinion without the lure of a giveaway, ha! If the dark color is black (difficult to see on my PC) then most definitely I would go with the black as binding. Either a solid black or a tiny print floral against black to mirror the floral in the black in the quilt. 🙂
Thanks, T! The dark color is black…and that seems to be the winner as of today.
Cindy, your quilt beautiful. Echoing many comments I would go with a compliment to the pretty floral with black background fabric.I would consider a print, maybe with greenish teal accents? I look forward to see what you choose:)
Thanks, Abbie! I will be shopping this week!
